Buffalo Runway
This road was originally built to accommodate a wide grape crusher with wide trucks.

The road is compacted two feet deep and contains a twelve inch top layering of decomposed granite. It is 40 feet wide. The Buffalo Runway road is 1400 feet long.

The Buffalo Runway (road) is so-called by locals because it resembles an airport runway.

Local flying enthusiasts have used it for their model airplanes. The Fire Department has recently flown in and has taken water out of the lake to fight forest fires.

Most small aircraft can land and take-off easily, however it’s not open to the public. It certainly could be used in an emergency, e.g. evacuation, homeland security, police, fire and medical emergency crews.
